It’s now been a week since there was community transmission of COVID-19 in Australia.

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt said the advice from the National Incident Centre is there were zero community cases nationwide today.

He said it’s the 9th day in the last 10 there have been zero community cases, however the news comes with a grim reminder of just how lucky Australia is.

“Sadly, In the same 24 hour period there were more than 14,000 lives lost and 570,000 cases worldwide,” Mr Hunt said.

“Over the same 10 day period there were over six million new cases and agonisingly over 125,000 lives lost worldwide.”
