Seven West Media and Facebook announce landmark deal to ensure social media giant pays for content

Seven West Media and Facebook have signed a landmark deal to ensure the social media giant pays for use of the company’s original news content.

Just hours after Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said that the Federal Government would make amendments to its media bargaining code following negotiations with Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg, SWM confirmed the deal.

SWM publishes The West Australian, The Sunday Times, website PerthNow as well as 19 regional papers and 13 community newspapers.

The 7NEWS bulletin at 6pm is the top-rating prime time news show in Australia.
