PERTH’S “laidback” nature convinced a family of six to swap life in Saudi Arabia for a future on the West Australian coast.
Imran Khalid, his wife Geet Farukh and their children moved from Saudi Arabia to Subiaco in June 2017.
The family always intended to become Australian citizens and Mr Khalid said they were “extremely excited” to finally be able to realise their dream this Australia Day.
“We weren’t concerned about our children’s future (at first) but once they grew up and they started going to school, I started exploring the options and comparing the lifestyle in Australia,” Mr Khalid said.
“I thought we would have better opportunities if we move to Australia.”
